Blowing Food Bubbles

Well up until now your bubble blowing was quite fun but now you are only doing it when there is food in your mouth which makes feeding you a little tricky.

Bath Time

Last night you had your first big bath bath. Up until now you were just having showers. You liked the little rubber duck and the bubbly jets too. It was fun to see you splashing about in the tub. It won't be loing until you are going to baby swimming.

Your First Milkshake

Today you had some of my milkshake. You watched me so carefully with your little mouth open from the moment I bought it I had to give you some. When I did a lady walking by did a double take and then shook her head in disgust as if to say "Parents these days, no idea how to raise a child". Your Mum was mad with me but it was worth it to see your happy little face when you go to have some.

We'll share one properly when you're a little bigger.

Your First Christmas

Well it is the day after boxing day after your first Christmas and I'm feeling a little bit bad that I havn't written for you in the last few days but it has been rather busy.

The first big thing to report is that you are eating solid food. It isn't really all that solid but at the same time it isn't milk so I guess it counts. Your Mum and I first tried you with some strained peas which you didn't really enjoy but then we triedd some bananas which you liked a lot and we filmed you eating them.

Over the past few days you've also had sweet potatoes which were pretty popular and bananas and mandarins which looked just like the bananas and they were equally successful.

Running around you for the last few days has been not only Jasmine but also Ziggy who is your aunty Tricia's dog. It is a little pomeranian crossed with a chihuahua. It seems to pee and pooh on the floor quite a lot and it wasn't very popular although you didn't seem to mind him too much.

You got lots of presents including an electric aquarium and a Eeyore that walks along for you to follow when you crawl. Speaking of crawling, you are getting to be such a good crawler and you even watch where people are so that you can crawl towards them even though you can’t see them.

Fat Lip

Yesterday evening you gave yourself a fat lip whilst playing with a plastic jigsaw piece of Elmo's head. There was blood and everything but even through the pain and the blood and the mournful cries you didn't stop playing.

It was quite a sight. Your lip was really swollen and when you smiled you had the goofiest grin with the big bulging lip piece sticking down.

I could have hugged you forever the way you were clutching onto me to make things ok again.

Your Favourite Noises

Your first favourite noise that you made yourself was blowing raspberries. You were very good at it but the phase didn't last long. Yesterday you started huffing with pursed lips. You sound so cute as you crawl around huffing and puffing.

Big Ride to Edmonton

Actually it wasn't that big. You've done it before a few times one time in an aeroplane when your Mum had kidney stones. You were a good boy the whole way down except for a few moments when you got a little scratchy. Now you are here crawling around behind me playing with all the toys and the play house. You look so happy and inquisitive.

Before we left though you gave me a treat. I was programming the television to go on while we were out of the house for Christmas and you crawled over to my feet and sat between them and just kept me company. You made me feel so good and so happy to be your Dad.

Christmas Party

You went to a Christmas party this evening with your Mum and me. It was my friend Lisa's. She is the deputy principal at the high school where I work. I got to know her when she used to drive me to work in the morning when I started working at Father Mercredi High School.

You weren't on your best behaviour tonight but I have to say that things got off you a bad start when a little girl, about 18 months old or so screamed in your face as soon as you started to crawl around. You only had a small sleep and then we went to your Mum's friend from work, Dina's house where you had an excellent time throwing up on her floor.

Another Busy Saturday

Well today after you had a few sleep-ins we went to town and had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. You were pretty well behaved but got a bit crotchety towards the end so I took you down the block to a card shop.

Your Grandad Bob and me went home while your mum went shopping with granny Pat. You were a good boy and had a good afternoon snook. You looked so adorable in your fancy blue ear flap hat.

You watched some I, Robot with your Mum and me and you were transfixed! Some of the bits when the robots were fighting made you a little bit scared but your Mum held your hand and everything was ok again.

Love you my son.

Holding Your Bottle

Today you lay on the floor and held your bottle for yourself to have a drink. You are growing up so fast.

Snowy Walk

Today I went for a run and when I got home I decided to bundle you up in your snowiest and take you for a walk to the mailbox. Your Mum said you needed your fancy ear flap hat from Old navy on so you wore that too. It was quite cold but you enjoyed your walk and smiled a lot. Thank you for such a nice stroll. Your company made it magic.

Snuffly sitting up boy

Well today's milestone my son is that you sat up all by yourself . You looked so happy with yourself sitting there. Getting back flat again seemed to be a bit of a problem and even though you bonked your noggin in the process you didin't even cry. You're quite a toughie.

Before I forget these tow little gems I'd better write them down...

When you are thinking or trying really hard to do something you make the most excellent snuffling and heavy breathing noises. I'm not really sure why because you don't do it every time but it is a treat.

When you cry and you've been crying for a while as your cries wind down you make a sort of howling noise like a sad wolf a sort of oow-wooo-wooo with these little pursed lips. It is adorable but possibly already cosigned to the history books for you. Sad really but you are growing up fast and I'm sure you'll have lots more endearing things to come.

Music to My Ears

I enjoy playing ,music to you when I get home from school. Generally you are pretty wriggly but sometimes you just lie there and watch me play the guitar. One day I hope you'll sing along.

Crazy Crawling

Well it seems that in only a few days you've gone from just sort of moving slowly forwards to really zooming around. Now we really have to keep a close eye on you all the time as one second you're right there and the next you're on the other side of the room.

Today your favorite toy was the Dodgeball packet. I guess the actual DVD case wasn't as exciting as all you did with that was vomit on it.

Saturday Morning Shopping

Well Noah., we got going pretty early this morning; all dressed up and out the door by 10am. You looked adorable in your Old Navy ear-flap hat and matching mittens and you had the biggest smile on and a "let's go Dad" look in your eye. I don't know how I got so lucky to have such a great son.

First we went to McDonald's so that I could get some breakfast. I had a super-sized sausage and egg McMuffin meal and I also had a sausage and egg"McGriddle". The Sausage and egg is what I usually have when I eat a McDonald's breakfast but today I thought I'd give the "McGriddle" a try. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to try to combine pancakes and syrup into a bun and put it on the sausage and egg. Strange to say the least but efficient. I wasn't a fan. I doubt that by the time you're reading this you'll have the opportunity to order one but if you do I suggest you get one just for the experience.

Firstly we went to Walmart where we bought Erik or who I call "your funny friend", because of the way he always makes you crack-up laughing when you see him, a birthday present then we went to safe supermarket to get him a cake and some breakfast stuff for tomorrow.

You didn't get to have a nap so you were pretty tired when you got home but you still had the energy to do some crawling for us which we captured on tape for posterity.

Right now as I write this you are fast asleep in your little bed. I hope you are having sweet dreams.

I love you.

Premier Post

Well my funny little friend, although I suspect you are somewhat bigger as you read this, here's the first post in your very own blog. Maybe one day you'll type in here yourself but for now let your Dad do it for you. It would be my honour.

I've collected up a few snippets here and there for you so I'll have to retroactively post them but this is really the first one.

Today was quite a day, after spending almost your entire life rolling and wriggling around, today was the first day when you strung together a real crawl. It was quite a good crawl too, very purposeful. We'll have to get a gate on the stairs soon and make sure there aren't small objects around for you to swallow.

What other things are going on in your life right now? Well, your favourite things seem to be a colourful set of plastic rings and a small rubber cube but the thing that gets you really interested are cold cans of diet coke. Not so much for the drinking more for the coldness and the smoothness.

You still seem to have trouble keeping your food down which is just milk at the moment. We will start you on solids soon so maybe that will help.

My favourite thing about you is your smile. When I see you after work or when you wake up the way you face lights up is priceless. I hope that I will always make you that happy.
