Number one number two

Today you did your first poo in the toilet. I don't think I've seen your Mother so happy in a long time.

l be honest we were starting to worry you'd have to go to school wearing Depends (adult incontinence pants).

Reading

This evening, just a few minutes ago, you did your first reading. We had a bowl with crisps in it. It is a popcorn bowl your aunty Val gave us.

It has the word POPCORN written on the side of it and without prompting you read the individual letters out. You didn't get them all but you got the first two and the second O without any help then you asked me what the letters were the second time through.

You may still be in a nappy but you are starting to read.

Spider-Snowman

The Simpson's movie is still a very important part of your life at the moment except you call them the Zim-Zims. Your favourite piece is the "spider-pig" part. In fact you like it so much that at Bev's house today you made a snowman and called it "spider-snowman". It is so funny. You are adorable.

Christmas

It's a few days after christmas and what a busy time we had. Busier than usual because we finally moved into what you call "the new house". Nana and Poppa's house is still "home" to you though.

You got lots of interesting things including a cool ride on bike that is a video game. Your favourite item though seems to be one that given to me namely The Simpson's Movie. I've lost count of how many times we've seen it so far but it is a lot.

You'll have to grow into some of your other toys like a metal train set with a train that actually goes around the tracks and you can change its direction and speed. You really enjoyed playing with it unfortunately you weren't quite up to packing it away carefully and in your haste to be a good boy and tidy up you tore off several of the little metal track connectors. Maybe the "ages 8 and up" sign should have been taken a bit more seriously.

New babysitter

Today you started with a new babysitter today. Her name is Bev Sweet and she is the wife of a man that I work with in Wetaskiwin.

She came very highly recommended and it was a real struggle to get you in but it was worth it because she is a very nice lady and she is a trained teacher so maybe we can get you toilet trained before you are due at school!

First Toilet Use

Today you used the toilet all by yourself for the first time. You were downstairs in you Nana and Pop's place. I'd taken off your nappy because you were about to get in the shower to do some "squeeging" (squeegying). I went to get a towel and heard you using the toilet.

I clapped and said what a good job you'd done and you did your "thank you, thank you, thank you".

You've used the toilet several times since then but using a training seat for the most part.

Words, Sayings and Eating.

We got back from New Zealand (for the third summer in a row) and you had a great time playing with Louis "Yumping" (jumping) from bed to bed.

You also loved going to "Pookey" or sometimes "Pokey" (golf) with Granny and Grandpa. You also like saying "Hello" to golfers that go by their deck as "Pleased to meet you".

You now call your uncle Ben "Uncle Len" and aunty Annabel "Maman" which you got from playing with Louis.

You have a relentless way of attracting people's attention it goes like this "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy..." until someone meets your eye. It is very effective.

Your favourite programmes at the moment are "Dora the Explorer" (a little mexican girl that explores things with her friend Boots a monkey) and "Diego" (who is Dora's cousin with his own show rescuing animals). They are both interactive cartoons.

"Up sky" is a favourite thing to say when you see something up in the sky.

"Hind you" is for something that is behind you.

"Right there" when you see it.

"I found it" is my personal favourite as you say it whenever you find something or more specifically when someone finds what you are looking for and puts it in your hand.

Your blanket is still your most prized posession.
